Description:  

The traffic study for the Cluj-Napoca municipality was approached in an integrated concept by addressing all its components, as follows:   the current Traffic Organization plan, including all the current regulations regarding the traffic development;improvement of the traffic conditions for the current stage, which includes a Plan of traffic improvement the in the central area and the analysis of the current traffic lighting system, including traffic design details for the traffic lighted intersections;mathematical modeling of the current traffic on the current network;forecast of the traffic flows on the perspective network in its different variants of development, design of the perspective urban road network.   In parallel with these analyses, the technical condition of the 200 km of traffic lane from the major road network was investigated.

The public transport of passengers was also analyzed in the following steps:  

• critical analysis of the current system of public transport lines from the functionality, loading level and transport capacity point of view;
• modeling the current passenger demand for peak times of work trips and the current network of public transport lines, simulating the passenger flows on each line;
• analysis of an alternative to the current way of organizing the lines, comparative technical-economic indicators.  

At the end of the study, a summary report was developed, that included the main aspects related to the traffic analysis and forecast, immediate solutions to improve traffic and a list of projects/ plan of action for the implementation of the proposed solutions. The summary of the study was also delivered in electronic format, so that it can also be used when updating the PUG (General Urban Plan).

The study is for the City Hall of Cluj Napoca an effective tool in making decisions for the current and future organization of traffic.
